In a statement released today, Nick Baker, the founder and CEO of Sim Sandwich, asserted that a large and profitable market for virtual food exists. March 4, 2001 — Sim Sandwich to Lay Off 230

Moving to trim operating costs, Sim Sandwich announced yesterday that it will lay off approximately 230 employees at its headquarters in Austin, Texas. The move comes in response to pressure from investors alarmed at the diminishing prospect of profitability in the virtual food business.
