Not too familiar with the our network?
From what you've seen, you think maybe we're not impartial?
Perhaps you'd be more comfortable with our competitor:

The news service in Starship Troopers, the Federal Network, can hardly be called impartial. However, it is not so dissimilar from CNN in several respects. On the Fed Net there is a section titled "Why We Fight." They show maps of the Klendathu System and show how bug meteors are hurled toward us from their asteroid belt. This reminded me of the endless maps we saw on CNN about where the Iraqi forces were during the Gulf War. Maps like the one to the left. I do owe CNN quite a bit of thanks for all these neat graphics. Surf on over to CNN Interactive and you can lap it all up for yourself.

The invasion of Klendathu is also reminiscent of the Gulf War, in two respects. First, the live coverage by a camera-man and reporter brings the war into the livingroom. Can we say "Peter Arnett?" Secondly, the actual landing scene is almost a direct parallel of the images the US saw of bombs raining down on Baghdad. Compare these clips: Klendathu (3.8MB) vs Baghdad (index page). It would seem that the producers of Starship Troopers were familiar with the media legacy they were imitating.
