The Nick Baker Report

This blog has been largely dormant since I started posting my pics to Flickr, so enjoy a sampling of posts from this week in history.

Getting Back (2005)

Well, I've gotten my blog switched from a perl based system to PHP and MySQL, but I'm still working on the comments form. I probably shouldn't have stayed up all night working on this but I got kind of manic. Oh well.

Choo Choo! (2004)

Today I was working at Artrain when I saw a locomotive pull up outside. It had come to shunt some of the Artrain cars around and take some others to Chelsea. I went outside to watch and the railroad guys let me ride in the locomotive while it was doing the shunting!!!

locomotive

There is a little boy inside me dancing with joy. The locomotive was like this one, but painted black. The engineer offered to take me to Chelsea with them, but I had to get back to work.

Counter-Piratism (2006)

From now on, everytime someone refers to "terrorists" I will substitute the word "freedom pirates" in my mind. I suspect it will make the news much more amusing.

Pirates

Arrr, we hate your scurvy way of life!

Black People Love Us! (2006)

This site is hilarious! The clueless attitude, crappy site design, and ridiculous pictures really work.

March of the Librarians (2007)

March of the Librarians I posted this video on Thursday morning, and the next thing I know it's burning up the library blogosphere. I sent it to a couple librarian friends, who have been hearing about it through other channels in the days since. Eliz was at a librarians party and someone asked her if she'd seen the video, and she was like "I know that guy." Then Laura had her reference meeting open with a viewing. What can I say, subcultures love self-referential commentary.
