Fuzzy Pink Slippers

This is a style of slipper you just don't see anymore. Like a pink shag carpet swallowing your feet, or a pink tribble that got stepped on.
I seem to remember one of my cousins owning a pair back in the 80s, but outside of Bye Bye Birdie they're virtually extinct.
"Oh mommy, Conrad Birdie's going to kiss me!"
The bomb-building cub scout really adds to this film, not to mention the drugged turtle.

That whole outfit that she creates over the course of "How Lovely To Be A Woman" is a nightmare to me. It just gets worse and worse as she goes on, with the baggy burlap-looking sweater and the top-knot with a sideways baseball cap and then the slippers...

Just dusting off an old classic. The outfit is pretty ridiculous. I think it was supposed to tap into some sort of androgyny-related anxiety in the early sixties, but the joke doesn't quite hold up.
