iTunes Rocks (Mostly)

I've been downloading music like crazy. Today I downloaded some They Might Be Giants tunes that I never bought when I was in high school but still wanted. I was also going to get a Smashing Pumpkins song but iTunes doesn't carry them yet! That totally sucks, so I stole it through morpheus.
You would think that a band would want their music on every possible service, but the music industry doesn't make any sense. You'd also think they'd lower the price of music. I would buy three times as much music if it cost half as much, and it's all profit since the replication cost is negligible. But there are industry standards that guarantee the studios 70 cents per song, so it won't happen overnight. Free music isn't free. People will pay for comprehensive catalogs, convenience and certainty. When the dying studio system finally kicks the bucket (or dominates the new sphere) we'll all be a lot happier. Then maybe musicians could go back to making a living the way they did before the recording industry came along, by playing music for paying fans.

nick, i found your site. that tooth thing freaks me out. but the comics are pretty funny - which could have more to do with the wine i've been drinking than the actual comics :) btw, i burned some cds for you. more music!
