The Globbus

I just had a dream about a very strange book. I was talking to Paul Courant about library purchases, and he mentioned that they had just ordered 300 copies of a book that was required reading for all freshmen. The book was titled "The University of Michigan: The Globbus" and had a hologram of a galaxy on the front...

The plot was basically this: A protagonist (freshman?) meets the Globbus, which is an interstellar mass of dust and matter. The Globbus claims that because it has absorbed so much dust, it has an entire star system inside it. Then the protagonist has to argue with the Globbus about why this isn't so.

It then occured to me (still in my dream) that this parable had implications for my work on archiving websites. Like the Globbus, I am hoping that if I suck in enough links my archive will eventually contain a whole website, but it is not clear that this is so.

What a strange dream.
