Transformers

March 22, 2005 @ 12:41 pm

I'm planning a Transformers themed party for Joanna on Friday, and it's a real trip down memory lane. I think we're going to get Transformers party hats and a cake with Optimus Prime on it, how cool will that be?

Optimus Prime

I remember going to a toy store to buy Optimus Prime with my birthday money, and the clerk tried to talk me into getting a different toy. Instead of being a truck it was a bullet train that turned into a robot. He claimed it was big in Japan, but I had my heart set on a plastic Optimus Prime. When he broke I regretted my decision a little bit, but in the long run I'm glad I owned the iconic version.

It's weird, just staring at this picture of Optimus Prime brings back a flood of memories from elementary school, especially of playing behind the sofa with my toys, and the sticky feel of the rubber wheels, and the way the robot clicked when you moved the parts around.

If this is a Party At Nick's, you'd better get inviting! Some of us are very popular and making weekend plans already!

transformers! more than meets the eye. what a great idea for a party. my favorite was bumblebee, the yellow volkswagen. i also liked the one that trasformed into a boom box. ah, the 80's.

I was saying to someone the other day how strange they are in retrospect. Optimus Prime and Megatron were ostensibly the same size, yet one could transform into a semi and the other into a handgun. Weird.

you have to suspend your disbelief. geez.

It's not that I don't like Transformers, but how come no one remembers Go-Bots? I had way more Go-Bots than Transformers. Why no love for the Go-Bots?

Your transformers party was super fun! I wish I had some transformers to amuse me right at this very moment!

Hah, Go-Bots were the loser cousins to the transformers! Also, the party pics are in, enjoy!

Well it's all rectangles, just take a sheet cake and cut it up as needed. Or you could try your hand at a little bit of art: Transformers Birthday Cake Optimus Prime Cake
