Spotted Dick

In a can, in the supermarket, in the "Irish" section, I spotted Spotted Dick. What was hitherto confined to early nineteenth century historical novels in my world has burst into the present in a weird way.
It was actually pretty good, tastes kind of like plum pudding.

What's Toad in a Hole? The English have good food names. Bubble and Squeak is actually pretty good.

Toad in the Hole is a sausage in a bed of mashed potatoes, then baked I think. I was wearing gloves, you don't want to handle spotted dick with your bare hands!

I'd have known how much you enjoyed Spotted Dick, I would have invited you over when I made it in Ann Arbor. (Spotted Dick is even better when it's made with love.)
